Materials:
  • Heart-shaped coconut shell buttons (four holes), 1 ½ x 2 inches
  • Natural polished hemp cord, 20 lb, brown (Cousin DIY Polished Thin Hemp 20 lb Cord Jewelry String, 300 ft, Brown)
  • Soapstone beads, 8-mm
  • Fabric glue
  • Scissors
Please select beads with LARGE HOLES to easily thread cords like hemp cord and faux suede. Ensure the holes accommodate both cords for a secure bracelet. If the bead hole is not sufficiently large, you may want to consider using a 10LB HEMP CORD instead.

Creating Your Hemp Cord Pendant
Instructions for Coconut Shell Button Heart Pendant
Instructions:
  1. Take two 25-inch long brown hemp cords and tie them together at their midway points. Thread one of the hemp cords through a soapstone bead and slide the bead down to the base of the knot. Knot the two hemp cords together over the bead to secure it in place.
  2. Take one of the loose hemp cords and thread it down through the bottom right buttonhole. Bring it up again through the top right hole. Repeat this process with the other loose hemp cord, starting from the opposite end of the cord, for the left side of the pendant.
  3. Thread the bottom right hemp cord through a soapstone bead and pull the bead down to the base of the knot. Repeat this process with the bottom left cord and a third soapstone bead.
  4. Take the cord from the right top hole and bring it down to meet the bottom right cord. Tie a knot to secure the two cords together, just above the soapstone bead. Repeat this process with the bottom left cord.
  5. Take one of the four loose ends and thread it through a fourth bead. Pass its partner end back through the top hole and out again from the back through the opposite top hole. Tie the two ends together to secure the final bead in place.
  6. Pass the remaining two loose cords through the holes to the back of the pendant.
  7. Create Macrame square knots about 1 1/2 inches long.
  8. Fold the 1 ½-inch long macrame knots to the back to create a bail. Tie a few knots at the base of the bail to secure it in place.
  9. Leave a 2-3mm gap and cut the excess hemp cords. Apply a small amount of fabric glue to the cord ends on the back of the heart pendant to secure them in place.

  4. Pass it under the middle and left cord.
  5. Pull the cords tightly to create the first half of the square knot.
  6. Take the right cord and place it over the middle cord, making a backwards "4" shape.
