• Clear nail polish (Optional)
Before you start, make sure to choose beads with LARGE HOLES that can easily accommodate natural polished hemp cord, ensuring they can thread through the cord securely for earrings. If the bead hole is not sufficiently large, you may want to consider using a 10LB HEMP CORD instead.

 Creating Reversible Wooden Buttons
Step 1: Take a one-sided wooden button, Step 2: Apply wood glue to back, Step 3: Press two buttons together
  1. Select a single-sided wooden button (20mm-25mm circle).
  2. Apply a small amount of wood glue to the back of the button using a toothpick or brush.
  3. Take another single-sided button and glue it onto the back of the first button, sandwiching the two buttons together. Press firmly and hold in place until the glue dries completely. Once dry, you have a reversible wooden button.

  1. Cut two strands of natural polished hemp cord into 16 -18 inches each.
  2. Take a 25mm reversible two-hole wooden button and thread one strand of hemp cord through one of the buttonholes. Fold the cord in half.
  3. Weave the cord back and forth through the two holes in the wooden button.
  4. Hold the folded cord ends and thread them through a 6mm metal bead. Pull the bead down to the button.
  5. Take a 20mm reversible two-hole wooden button and again weave the cord back and forth through the two holes in the wooden button.
  6. Tie a knot on top of the 20mm button to secure the cord in place.
  7. Thread a 6mm Czech glass faceted bead through one of the cord ends. Pull it down to the base of the knot.
  8. Hold the cord ends together and tie a knot just above the Czech glass bead.
  9. Take the cords and create a loop knot.
  10. Using fabric glue, wrap the rest of the cords around the loop end to secure it. Cut off any excess cord.
  11. Open an earring hook bottom loop with a plier.
  12. Attach an earring hook using a plier.
  13. Repeat Steps 2-12 for the other earring, so you have a complete set.

Please note that any crafts or DIY projects should be attempted with caution.
Tip 1 - Applying nail polish to wooden buttons (Optional)
To protect the surface and colors of wooden buttons, apply a clear nail polish.
Step 1: Dip hemp cord end in wood glue, Step 2: Remove excess glue with paper towel, Step 3: Allow glue to dry
  1. Dip the brush of the clear nail polish into the bottle and remove any excess polish.
  2. Apply a thin, even coat of nail polish to the surface of the wooden button, covering the entire area. For added protection, apply a second or third coat once the previous coat is dry.
  3. Allow the nail polish to dry completely before handling the buttons.

Tip 2 - Preventing hemp cord from fraying (Optional)
When working with hemp cord, the ends of the cord can become frayed and difficult to thread through bead or button holes. To prevent this, try applying a small amount of wood glue to the end of the cord before threading it through the holes. The glue will create a protective barrier that keeps the cord from fraying and makes it easier to thread through the holes multiple times. By following this simple tip, you can save time and frustration when creating your boho-style wooden button earrings.
Step 1: Dip hemp cord end in wood glue, Step 2: Remove excess glue with paper towel, Step 3: Allow glue to dry
  1. Dip the end of the hemp cord into the wood glue and remove any excess glue.
  2. Use a paper towel to remove any excess glue if necessary. Allow the wood glue to dry completely before using the cord.
